I have brown hair, brow eyebrows, but green eyes. I could pass for Sandra, except the green eyes and some slight facial features. I really want to dress like Sandra Bullock for Halloween, … I was going for her oscar look, or the proposal look, and possibly the blind side.. Where can I find these things? Thanks(:

Short Hair Styles – The Top Recommended Tips to Looking Great Today!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Short hair styles are the trend among Hollywood’s most glamorous celebrities, who are constantly showing off their latest short dos on the red carpet. A short style is defined as one in which the hair falls above the shoulder; short hair can actually look great on every woman if it is tailored to her particular facial shape, with the idea being to accentuate the positive features of her face while de-emphasizing the negatives.

For example, if you have a long face, your short hairdo should make your face look fuller; this can be done with a chin-length bob cut with side-swept bangs and curled or softly layered on the sides. Celebrities with this shape of face include Liv Tyler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Giselle Bundchen.

On the other hand, with a round face, the style should make the face look longer; this can be done with a longer bob whose length is just below the chin with layers or waves starting below the top part of the hair to add height. Round-faced celebrities include Kirsten Dunst, Kate Bosworth and Michelle Williams.

If you have an oval-shaped face, you are fortunate, since you can wear virtually any style or cut; the best short hair styles for you, however, are those which emphasize your best features.  If you have great bone structure, you can emphasize it with an angular bob, while side-swept bangs could help show off those great eyes. Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba are among the celebrities who share your face shape.

A short hairdo for a woman with a triangular or heart-shaped face needs to emphasize her cheekbones and eyes; to do this she can use a brow-grazing fringe or long bangs swept to one side. Celebrities with heart-shaped faces include Ziyi Zhang, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes and Reese Witherspoon.

Women with a square face need to de-emphasize their strong jaw lines; use short hair styles that are very spiky and avoid bobs and bangs that will make your face look squarer. You share this face shape with Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore.

Once you’ve got your short hair, although it needs less maintenance than long hair styles, you’ll need to know how to take care of it. Here are some tips on maintaining short hair styles.

Maintain your short do by trimming it every three to four weeks to keep it from growing out and prevent split ends. Keep your hair healthy by using a natural conditioner such as warmed coconut or almond oil at least once a week; after massaging it into your hair, wrap a towel dipped in hot water around it for twenty minutes, and then wash it with a mild shampoo to nourish it and prevent dandruff. Comb your hair only after it dries naturally and then use a wide-tooth wooden comb to smooth out tangles; then follow up with a fine-tooth comb. When swimming, use a bathing cap and make sure your hair is not over-exposed to the sun.

Practice healthy habits such as regular exercise, proper diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and drink eight glasses of water a day.

The Top 6 Most Fab Hairstyles ala-Hollywood Celebrity

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

No matter how much of a cliché it sounds, there is no doubt that her hair is a woman’s crowning glory. Whether you’re wearing a casual or a dressy outfit, the way that your hair is styled will pretty much complete the look that you are going for.

Over the years, women’s hairstyles have evolved in such a way that even the old styles keep coming back – and are becoming new again.

To give you an idea about just how fun it is to watch how the trends in hairstyles evolve, here’s a brief look at the styles which dominated the beauty industry over the past few decades.

During the 1950s, the ‘in’ look was the short, blonde and curly locks which Marilyn Monroe magnificently sported while wearing that iconic halter dress.

Yet another completely different hairstyle which became popular in the same decade was the pixie cut which is still surprisingly feminine – which was sported by Audrey Hepburn.

In the 1960s the big bouffant hairstyles became popular. In the 1970s and 1980s, the ‘big hair’ of varying styles were in.

In 1990, Jennifer Aniston’s character in the television series “Friends” popularized a hairstyle called the Rachel. It was a layered cut which framed your face and went up to the shoulder level.

Finally, during the year 2000, varying hairstyles have become popular and some are even revivals of styles from a bygone era. For example, singer Amy Winehouse started sporting the bouffant or beehive hairstyle which became big during the 1960s.

It was only recently that celebrity pals Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes sported matching pixie cuts. In fact, it is Victoria Beckham herself who popularized another iconic celebrity hairstyle which is the Pob – or the Posh Bob.

Fortunately for the women of today, they do have a lot of Hollywood celebrity hairstyles to imitate. Again, your hair is your crowning glory and until you find a look that perfectly suits the shape of your face, you can have fun in experimenting with the different hairstyles sported by the rich and famous.

Which Hairstyles of the Rich & Famous Should I Go For?

Before actually making a choice about which Hollywood celebrity hairstyle it is that you wish to copy, let us first take a look at some of the more modern hairstyles which you can see are being worn by the rich and famous themselves:

1. Hairstyle: The Straight & Long Hairstyle

The Rich & Famous Celebrity Sporting It: Jennifer Aniston

As mentioned earlier, women during the 1990s went gaga over Jennifer Aniston’s hairstyle in the television series “Friends” – so much so that a haircut was even named after her – the Rachel.

Today, Jennifer Aniston is sporting a much more sophisticated, sleeker hairstyle.

During the premier of her latest film “Marley and Me”, the actress sported a straight and long hairstyle which has a layered trim at the end and the sides – which frames her beautifully-shaped face.

If the Jennifer Aniston look is something that you would like to go for, make sure that your hair is in excellent condition.

Make sure to get regular trims, always have a good conditioning treatment in between visits to your stylist – and make sure that your hair cut is something which flatters the shape of your face.

2. Hairstyle: Pin-Straight & Shiny

The Rich & Famous Celebrity Sporting It: Gwyneth Paltrow

Whether your locks are shoulder-length or long, sporting the pin-straight and shiny hairstyle never seems to go out of style these days.

If you have naturally curly hair, all you need to do is get a blow dryer, a flat iron and a shine spray or a shine serum to add that extra sheen to your locks.

Make sure that prior to blow drying or straightening your hair out by applying heat, you are using a heat-protecting product – especially if you are treating your hair while it is still damp.

Separate your hair in two sections and flat-iron until your locks are gorgeously pin-straight.
To add that final touch, spray on a bit of a hairspray or a shine spray – just make sure that it is not water-based, otherwise your locks will go back to its original state.

3. Hairstyle: Wavy Hair with Side Bangs

The Rich & Famous Celebrity Sporting It: Lauren Conrad

You can never be more in tune with the hairstyle that the rich and famous are sporting than when you are watching a show like “The Hills”.

Here, Lauren Conrad is often spotted wearing a wavy hairstyle with side bangs.

Whether you choose to wear this style plain, or you want to use headbands as hair accessories, that is entirely up to you.

What is important is that you get the right hair cut wherein the sides are layered and if your hair is curly, blow dry it straight and if straight or wavy, let it air-dry.

4.Hairstyle:Pixie Cut

The Rich & Famous Celebrity Sporting It: Katie Holmes

Her celebrity pal Victoria Beckham was the first Hollywood celeb who sported the infamous Pob of Posh bob.

But now that Victoria’s hair is quite different, it’s Katie Holmes’ turn to sport a shorter version of the bob which is the pixie cut.

During her stint as Joey Potter in the teen drama Dawson’s Creek, Katie sported long, chestnut locks which is really gorgeous.

But now that she married Tom Cruise and she has a famous tot Suri who is also sporting a cute ‘baby bob’ – Katie has gone a transformation as far as her hairstyle is concerned.

She now sports a short and sleek pixie cut which perfectly frames her face. If you want to recreate this fresh and sophisticated look, make sure to ask your stylist whether the cut will suit the shape of your face or not.

The great thing about the pixie cut is that you can have a mixture of the Audrey Hepburn look – but with a modern touch, just like the one sported by Katie Holmes. The short hair cut is also very low-maintenance.

5. Hairstyle: The Wavy & Long Hairstyle

The Rich & Famous Celebrity Sporting It: Jennifer Lopez

Although it seems like Mrs. Marc Anthony has not veered away from her signature long, curly locks, she does amp things up a notch when it comes to her hairstyle.

On the red carpet, she usually wears sleek updos, when she does let her hair down, she usually sports a wavy and long hairstyle.

To copy JLo’s gorgeous wavy locks, you need to scrunch, blow dry and use a curling iron for your hair [Hair scrunching].

A mousse or a molding cream may also be necessary to lock the style in. This type of hairstyle is suitable for those who have an oval, oblong, heart, diamond or square-shaped face.

6. Hairstyle: The Layered Look

The Rich & Famous Celebrity Sporting It: Reese Witherspoon

If there’s one cut and hairstyle that never seems to go out of style, that is none other than the layered look.

Sported by celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, this look is a crowd favorite by both the women and their stylists.

If you want to go for the Reese Witherspoon’s layered look, it will be better if you have hair length which passes over your shoulder to realize the full effect of the cut.

All you need to do is to use a blow dryer and a smoothing shine and you’re all set!

These are just some of the hairstyles which are currently being worn by the rich and famous Hollywood celebrities. If you want to recreate the look for yourself, make sure that you consult with your stylist to see whether a particular cut or hairstyle will flatter the shape of your face.

There’s no doubt that Hollywood celebrities are being looked upon when it comes to the gorgeous hairstyles that they are sporting – be it on the big or small screen or on the red carpet – so always be on the lookout for the right kind of glamorous hairstyle that may also work for you!
